It’s been a while and I’m happy I now can share this song and video with you. I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I did while working on it, from the very start up to today and along the way with the people who got involved and helped make this happen.

Gone for Pearls is a tribute to Japanese ‘Ama’, women free divers whose tradition and technique date back to ancient times and have been disappearing with the modern fishing industry. I first searched about their culture two years ago out of fascination for their diving technique and dedication to their tradition beyond their survival needs. I discovered a way of life in harmony with time and nature’s rhythm, a quite inspiring thousand year human/environment balanced relationship.

The notes I took during these researches turned into this song in tribute to 海女, these ‘women of the sea’.

Translator Tomoko Oono who transcribed Mémoires d’un chien by photographer Daido Moriyama and took part in translating the works of writers Yasunari Kawabata and Haruki Murakami made the Japanese adaptation.

Here it is,

To all of you who have been writing and asking when you’ll hear new songs or when will the next shows be, I’m happy to say I’ve been working on a new record.
You’ll know more soon and in the meantime I keep your trust and support close. I can’t wait to get my dream team on the road to you again.

 Love from Brussels,

This fall and winter I’ll be taking some time to work on what will be next, giving little updates now and then.

Before that I’m happy to share with you the latest project I participated in which will be performed this Saturday during Brussels Nuit Blanche.

Dancer and choregrapher Jörg Müller invited Moni Wespi to dive in in his underwater tube and do a solo performance for which I wrote the soundtrack.

Looking forward to see this by night in the outside,  stop by and join us to share your impressions! There also will be three other solo shows performed in turns between 8:00 PM and 1:00 AM in St Catherine, among them will be Jörg Müller’s.

Special thanks to Moni Wespi for inviting me on board and trusting me, Peter Silberman (The Antlers) for lending me his voice and reading my words and Jörg Müller, creator of the «noustube» project.
